![]() ![]() That's why the military couldn't really help in the main game, because they were too busy trying to deal with so much else. Nothing like the first one wher you can actually clean out whole neighbourhoods. I've seen zombies just appear out of thin air. Plus the zombies just spawn right on you. There's really no chance to actually go into buildings, forage, etc. There's no real chance to actually explore places and businesses/buildings, because you're having to go directly to someone or something and then its straight into a seige. Originally posted by Wuulfe:curious, but has anyone noticed you really can't do a lot in lifeline? Basically you have to get to the refugee or soldier immediately or they're just plain dead. I do not know if that makes a difference. Same logic applies to all story progressing missions however the doctor mission is the only one that will allow you to roam the map without being sidetracked by those pop up missions or zombie waves.Īlso, I have the original SOD not the Year One edition. The save the doctor mission can be ignored because he has to kill himself at the base, so if you never bring him to the base he never dies, thus the story does not progress and you are free to do what you want for as long as you want without pop up missions or zombie waves. If you have to save someone and ignore that then they will die so you must do those missions as they appear and cannot ignore them with the exception of the save the doctor mission at the start. Ignoring missions mid game means you have to deal with the pop up missions that is why it is wise to collect everything you need before you basically start the game so you do not have to worry about collecting resources anymore, only people. The missions you can ignore usually require you to meet up with someone from the base for a mission to progress the story. I have not played Lifeline in a while though so I forget exactly which missions those were (I think you can apply this method to the missions where you have to set up an outpost at a satelite location or artillery location). That is at the end though, there are earlier points where you can ignore missions and the story wont progress so you can just go around collecting soldiers and people. You can just do whatever you want until you choose to go meet up with him but will have to fight zombie waves attacking the base. An example of this would be when Sasquatch (think that was his name) wants to nuke the city. There are also other points in the story where you can ignore missions and just explore but the base will be bombarded by zombie waves. ![]() As soon as you are done exploring and stockpiling resources you can just go rescue the doctor and start the story progression. That is what I wanted to do as well and that is how I did it. At this point in the story all you can basically do is explore the map, scavenge, and set up outposts but are able to do so without being side tracked by random pop up missions or zombie waves and are able to do it for as long as you want. Of course since the game does not progress you will not be able to do a lot of things like rescue soldiers, save people, build certain buildings in the base, and switch characters. I was able to swept the whole map competely worry free (except where the doctor was because that would progress the story) gathering resources and setting up outposts with the woman and two men we spawn with (sorry, I forget their character names). Zombie waves didn't attack the base and there are no pop up missions as the story does not progress to that point until you rescue the doctor. I never went and got the doctor, the game never progressed, and the doctor never died. When you spawn with the woman and two men at the start of the Lifeline just go to the base and get the rescue doctor mission and ignore that mission. ![]()
